Three panels, 30 x 40, done at a week long mentored class with Hazel Belvo in Grand Marais, MN. I was reading a book of folk tales after visiting Norway, and wanted to capture the mood-dark, mysterious watery. I don't think you need to know the stories; you can find what you wish and imagining the narrative. I like the hidden or obscured figures, like the horse in the first panel, the ogre in the second panel, and the wolf amid birches in the third panel.
Others: horse, ship, house, fish, bell, sewing needle and thread, bridge, pot, fire in the woods, ocean, spinning wheel, spear, ladle, key, bag of gold, rooster, duck, scissors, apple.
I've often thought that if this were in a classroom or library, it could be used as a basis for story writing or telling.
